What actually matters when specifying Lutron in Dubai

Dubai homes punish cheap dimmers — combined thermal load from over-driven downlights, capacitive LED drivers on non-Lutron-approved fixtures, and voltage fluctuations from DEWA gear kill dimmers within a year. Lutron QSX Elite dimming modules are our default because their thermal derating is honest and they carry a warranty Dubai FM companies actually redeem. Shading is where Dubai gets its own set of quirks. Sintra motors and Somfy motors both work — Lutron Sivoia QS Triathlon is our go-to for large single-fabric spans (up to 10m) because the motor is silent and rated for 47°C ambient. HomeWorks QSX or RadioRA 3 — how do I choose?+
New build with fresh cable runs: QSX. Retrofit where you can't pull wires or want the fastest install: RadioRA 3. Both use the same Palladiom keypads, so the visible UX is identical to the resident either way.
Can Lutron work with Control4 or Savant?+
Yes — natively. Lutron is the most-integrated lighting platform in the industry. We deploy Lutron-under-Control4 and Lutron-under-Savant routinely; the two systems talk directly without a bridge.
Are Palladiom keypads worth the premium?+
In a client-visible room, always. In a plant room, no — we swap to Vareo. LEXA maps keypad range per room during design development so you're only paying for luxury where your client actually touches it.
How does Lutron handle Islamic prayer times?+
Lutron's astronomical timer accepts sunrise/sunset offsets plus custom fixed times. We connect it to a Umm al-Qura API so majlis and mosque lighting scenes ripple through the property alongside Athan. Common request from our GCC clientele.
What's Lutron's warranty in Dubai?+
Palladiom keypads: 5 years. HomeWorks processors: 8 years. Sivoia QS motors: 5 years. Full statement of warranty comes with every LEXA install and is registered against your project number for FM claims.
